Uncemented Hips

Who, What & When.

MONDAY | 15 OCTOBER 2018

In many countries due to a perceived better value, cemented stems and cups have seen a resurgence over uncemented components. Where does this leave uncemented hip replacements? Are they only for younger patients?

Cementless hip replacements show a relative superiority survival over time. Is the issue the early fractures sometimes seen with cement-less prosthesis? Can these be reduced therefore ensure the cumulative long term results surpasses that of cemented hips? Will implant design or surgical approach improve these results? Can the coatings be improved to help prevent infection?

Through a mixture of didactic lectures from a faculty of key experts from the UK and abroad, interactive debates and specialised break-out groups, we invite you to join us at the Royal College of Physicians in October and participate in exploring these and other issues, culminating in a conference agreement of aims.
