Andrew Gordon is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Northern General and The Royal Hallamshire Hospitals.
He qualified from Sheffield Medical School in 1997 and was a higher surgical trainee in Sheffield and the surrounding area. Prior to his Consultant post, he trained as a Fellow with the highly respected Mr Andrew Manktelow and Mr Peter James in hip and knee replacement surgery at Nottingham University NHS Trust.
He is currently Chair of the Dr Foster Global Comparators Group; an organisation which promotes best practice in hip and knee surgery worldwide and is also the Clinical Lead for both Seamless Surgery and Technology Transformation at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals.
In 2012, he gained a PhD in immunobiology and genetic risk factors for aseptic loosening after total hip replacement. Work from his PhD has been awarded both National and International prizes including the William Harris Hip Award in the USA.
He has published in numerous journals including The Lancet.
He is currently a Consultant in the Lower Limb Arthroplasty Unit at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, a centre for both simple and complex primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgery
